I’ve spent so much of my life waiting until something is absolutely perfect before giving it the go-ahead. From 6th grade when I wouldn’t leave the house until my curling iron had done its work to college when I wouldn’t hand in an English paper until I had read, re-read, re-re-read, then passed it by 10 friends before giving it to a professor. Perfection can truly be the enemy of progress, especially for entrepreneurs. We want our “babies” to be flawless before we introduce them into the world. Well, it may not be perfect, but SMARTY is launched! I have seen hundreds of business launch through my work with entrepreneurs, and SMARTY allows me to continue that work, with my stellar team, in bringing education and community to women business owners.

One of the great pleasures of living within this tremendous community is the help and support women lend each other when given the context through which to do it. I can’t tell you how many times someone has approached me wondering if my women’s group is “catty” or “competitive” like other groups out there. Those are the last words that come to mind. Women naturally want to serve and help one another, but often don’t have a medium through which to lend a hand to the very women who need them.

Each of us brings a lifetime of knowledge about something to our day-to-day jobs as business owners, women, mothers, wives, sisters, girlfriends (dog owners.) We are all experts at something. SMARTY has showed me that we all are willing and enthusiastic to share our resources and information as long as there is an inherent agreement; and that agreement is that “today I’m helping you. Tomorrow I may need your help!”

We all need one another, and women, particularly in this economy, have big shoes to fill. We are the ones who will carry our economy into a more prosperous place, but we have to step up to the plate to get into the game. SMARTY women are doing that. It’s incredibly exciting! The beauty is that you can get in the game gradually or go whole hog – all are welcome.

Just do something to grow your dream. The time truly is right NOW.
